Sasso di Castalda: a village between history and nature

Located 949 meters above sea level, Sasso di Castalda is a small village nestled in the Lucanian mountains, amid beech and oak forests that provide an atmosphere of peace and authenticity. Its name comes from a large rocky outcrop (the "sasso") that dominates the town and has been a strategic point of defense over the centuries.

An ancient village, a guardian of history and tradition, characterized by its small stone houses that lie gently along the steep hills.

Walking through its picturesque alleys is an experience that enchants the senses: every corner seems to come alive as visitors pass by, telling stories of a time long gone.

Flower-filled balconies provide an explosion of colors, filling the air with delicate scents and an authentic, welcoming atmosphere.

Irresistible aromas of typical dishes waft from the ovens and kitchens of old houses, calling to mind genuine flavors and traditions handed down from generation to generation.

The Bridge to the Moon (Ponte alla Luna): A Thrilling Experience between Heaven and Earth

In Sasso di Castalda, in the heart of Basilicata, is the Ponte alla Luna, an incredible Tibetan bridge suspended 120 meters high and 300 meters long. Crossing it means a unique adrenaline experience, walking through the void with a breathtaking view of the Lucanian Dolomites.

Dedicated to Rocco Petrone, a Lucanian-born engineer who contributed to the Apollo 11 mission, the bridge culminates in a panoramic glass terrace from which to admire the village from above. A not-to-be-missed adventure for thrill-seekers and nature lovers!

A place that gives emotions

Sasso di Castalda is not just a village to visit, but an experience to live. Here, every glimpse is a postcard, every stone tells a story, and every breath is a taste of authentic Basilicata.
